Exterior Crack Repairs and Full Repainting Project in Remuera
Some homes simply need a fresh coat of paint. Others require a much deeper level of restoration before a long-lasting finish can even begin.
Some homes simply need a fresh coat of paint. Others require a much deeper level of restoration before a long-lasting finish can even begin.
This Remuera project was one of those cases.
The property, a high-value residential home in one of Auckland’s most established suburbs, had extensive cracking throughout the exterior plaster surfaces. Years of exposure and surface movement had left the exterior looking tired, worn, and heavily deteriorated in several areas. Alongside the cracking, failed sealant joints and aging coatings were affecting both the appearance and long-term protection of the home.
The owners wanted more than a cosmetic repaint. The goal was to properly restore the exterior, address the underlying surface issues, and apply a complete system that would improve both presentation and durability for years to come.
Scope of Work
- Full exterior crack repairs
- Exterior plastering repairs
- Silicone removal and resealing
- Surface preparation and remediation
- Full exterior repainting
- Scaffolding coordination across the property
- Protective coating application using Resene and Rockcote systems
Repairing Cracked Exterior Surfaces Properly
One of the biggest issues with exterior paint failure in Auckland homes is that visible cracks are often painted over instead of being properly repaired.
On this project, many of the exterior surfaces had significant cracking throughout the plaster system. Simply repainting over those areas would have led to premature failure and recurring issues later on.
Our team carried out detailed crack repairs across the property, carefully preparing and restoring affected areas before the repainting stage began. Surface preparation played a major role throughout the project, ensuring the new coatings could bond correctly and perform long term.
Sealant work was also completed around key junctions and transitions to improve weather protection and help prevent future moisture intrusion.
Working on an Occupied High-End Property
Another important part of this project was coordination.
The property remained occupied while the works were being completed, meaning the project needed to be carefully managed around the homeowners’ daily routine. With scaffolding installed around the house and multiple work areas active at different stages, maintaining a tidy, respectful, and organised site was essential throughout the process.
Clear communication and practical scheduling helped keep the project moving smoothly while minimising disruption for the clients.
A Full Exterior Transformation
Once the repairs, plastering, sealing, and repainting stages were completed, the transformation across the property was substantial.
The exterior now presents with clean, consistent finishes and a much stronger level of protection against future weather exposure. More importantly, the project was completed using systems and preparation methods designed for long-term performance — not short-term cosmetic improvement.
For homes with visible cracking and aging exterior coatings, proper preparation and remedial work can make a significant difference in both appearance and durability.
At PlasterPro Solution, we focus on delivering exterior plastering and painting systems built around preparation, detail, and lasting workmanship across Auckland.
